Man Period

by Adrienne L.

The room was completely dark
With only the streetlights outside
Peeping through the window shutters.
We lay there embracing each other, holding on tight.
My arms wrapped around him and
His around me.
He kisses me and strokes my face.
His breathing starts to grow longer and deeper.
His lips slow and eventually pause.
I hear a long inhale and feel his lips quivering against mine
I hear a trembling exhale and sniffles break the silence.
I think to myself, "What's happening?"
I realized I was witnessing this man cry for the first time.
He doesn't cry. Ever.
In shock, I attempt to help him wipe his tears.
I ask him what is wrong.
"I've never been so happy in my life," he says.
"I had never thought the feelings I have for you were possible.
That is all I want in my life; to be with you, rich or poor."
Smiling and laughing I ask if he is on his period.
"Yeah."
His tears have given me joy for I know that he is comfortable
Around me enough to show his emotions.
"I was crying because I really want to propose to you right now but I can't."
But.
I don't need any of that.
As long as I get to see that smile,
There's nothing I want more in the world than your happiness.
I'm truly blessed to have met you.
And I cannot wait to grow old with you.
To me, we are particles and atoms that return to the ground
Once we have had our time.
However,
If there truly is a God, the time we've experienced together
Is proof alone.

ps.
I'm sorry if I embarrass you <3

Life on Instagram

Just before the quarter started I put together a vegetable garden in order to eat more organic foods and not have to rely on buying chemically treated market vegetables.  To be honest I have more greens than I can even consume! So apparently annoying little caterpillars have been helping me.. ):<
Also tried out the Beautiful Mess app that just launched last week. Although you have to buy packs in order to use them it's pretty fun.  If you're part of the iPhone family you should check it out in the App Store.
I went to LACMA for the first time (well apparently I went when I was small but I don't remember) for a school project and it's really neat. There were a ton of interesting exhibits there and I hope I get to come back really soon. I didn't have the time to see everything they had. It was a really nice way to spend the weekend.

Birthday Weekend

Since my mom and I have birthdays fairly close to each other we decided to throw a birthday party last weekend.  Friends and family came and we set the decorations up in our back yard.  My parents decided to go all out for this party and hire a taco caterer.  Since this was going to be the "last big birthday" they wanted to do something fun.  Everyone had an amazing time and there was dancing, basketball, and tequila shots.  I walked into my house to see a bunch of toddlers dancing to the infamous Gangnam Style.  It was the funniest thing.  I heard even my grandma was dancing later that now.  Now there's something you need to know. My mom is definitely not a drinker.  She's told me in the past she thinks she's had a shot of vodka before. But that was it.  Since we were both turning a celebratory age this year she agreed to take not one but THREE shots with me.  I was speechless really.. To be honest I was hoping to see her drunk as it is a side I've never seen before. But I think with all the tacos, cakes, and pies she had almost no effect.. (bummer).  My family isn't usually the type to drink at get togethers either.  If anything its usually the occasional beer or some wine but everyone was lining up to try the tequila.  It felt like the Twilight Zone.
I do want to thank everyone for joining us and being a part of our shindig.  But I especially want to thank my mother for putting this all together.  I know right now isn't the best time to be spending money like that but she wanted me to have a good time.  We all worked really hard to make the party look nice.  I am truly blessed to have all these people in my life.  I love you mama. (:

Again, sorry for lagging on posts. Midterms are endless with the quarter system I'm starting to discover.
Back to studying I goo.

I haven't had all the pictures sent to me but I will post more of them as soon as I receive them.
Because I was pretty busy that day I asked Steven and some family members to snap some quick photos for me. So the majority of these pictures don't belong to me.

THE WEEKEND

This weekend has been a busy one consisting of a ton of family time and vitamin D.
Two of my cousins came to visit from Australia and they brought their friends and girlfriends along with them. So Steven and I went to meet with them in LA.
On Saturday we left in the morning to have breakfast at Mary's Market. It is a quaint little cafe/antique store within a small hippie-like neighborhood in Sierra Madre. I had the Gio Metro which is a bagel sandwich with eggs, avocado, turkey, tomato, cheese, and onions. Steven chose some type of muffin sandwich that came with salsa. Both were superb and we finished breakfast with an order or yogurt with granola and fruit. The service was amazing as well, the people there made us feel like family. Everyone was very kind and since it was a small community, they knew we weren't from the area and asked us questions.
After breakfast we explored the neighborhood and then went off to Santa Monica.

So I'm a bit of a fish geek and wanted to stop by Nature Aquarium. It's is one of the few stores in Southern California that caters to aquascaping (an art technique of making the illusion of a fish tank to look like a landscape). I will explain more on that later since this is one of my favorite hobbies. Seeing all the tank displays inspired me to start working on my tanks again.
While waiting to meet with my cousins for lunch we stopped by 3rd Street Promenade and checked out the farmer's market and stores.
After having lunch at The Grove, we all headed over to Hollywood.

Today, my family had our annual family reunion. Relatives from all over come to our picnic and we all get to see faces missed. We had lunch and proceeded to our family games. Starting off with soccer, then a water balloon toss, musical "hugs", bike riding, etc.

I think we've had enough sun exposure for the weekend.

With another addition to my summer adventures, good night!
