THRIFT HAUL!

Today I went to Thrift Shop Row in Orange. It's a plaza just lined up with thrift stores. I was in heaven. There were giant stores and small ones. Looking around gave me mixed feelings; the bigger stores were priced ridiculously and were borderline rip-off. But there was one small store that had super friendly employees that were willing to reduce prices. I wasn't able to find many clothes since they were expensive. But I did find a few knick knacks that were pretty cool. Overall, I feel that I may have spent a little more than I should have for my items.
Got a black and white houndstooth sweater great for the fall
A retro metal fruit bowl great for decorating
 This two-toned braided belt
Found this hand embroidered burlap pennant from Nicaragua. The colors are amazing and the stitching is adorable.
This has got to be the cutest doll
Vintage wooden rackets!

Today probably wasn't the most bargain deal of the day but I was able to find some really neat stuff. I think I'd prefer going to thrift stores out of California since it's become such a trend to find vintage things around here.

Have an amazing day!

FAV #3

Monster rug made by Joshua Longo, one of the most inspiring artists in my book. An industrial design professor at Pratt Institute in New York, his work fills my mind with creativity and awe. I hope to meet this mastermind one day.

Everyone should not only have a sweater, but a humorous printed sweater! By Aubin & Wills

I would love to frame this adorable print.
Simple, vintage inspired dress by Aubin & Wills.
I'm sure this would definitely get me to read more :P
This is such a cute poster, it's so full of character!

That's it for this set of favorites. Have a fabulous Friday!

Pleasant surprises

I've never really learned how to sew except maybe hand sewing buttons onto clothes. So I figure I'd like to learn the basics this summer. Last week my grandma gave me a used sewing machine. I didn't really think anything of it except the fact it was old and super heavy to carry around. It was such a workout I was hesitant about keeping it and was considering buying a newer, more compact one. As I hauled it to the table and took off the cover I instantly fell in love. It turned out to be vintage! It's the cutest retro sewing machine I've ever seen and I can't wait to start learning and making things. All I've been thinking about is the free time I'll have to practice sewing. Thank you grandma! :,)

Happy Monday! xoxo

Yesterday my mom and I went to Downtown Fullerton to participate in Oh, Hello Friend's vintage warehouse sale. Bloggers and amazing vendors such as Cakies3 Ring CircusWe Love CitrusThe Salvage LifeMisha LuluFound Vintage Rentals, and many others came to show off and sell their fabulous creations and finds. There were people peaking around and gathering an hour earlier than our opening time. It was just the beginning of everyones' successful day. Even though the heat was hard to bear, it didn't seem to stop fans from coming and shopping. Most of the time the warehouse was packed to a seemingly claustrophobic point. It was wonderful meeting such beautiful people and inspiring seeing how passionate they are at what they do. I have much respect for these strong men and women, witnessing the drive they have in doing what they love most. I hope to meet everyone again and be able to converse more since everyone was busy attending to customers. Thank you so much Danni for this wonderful opportunity. We are truly grateful you considered including us in your event.

WHAT I WORE: skulls & flowers

Skull muscle shirt - Urban Outfitters
Skirt - thrifted
Belt - thrifted
Hairpin - Etsy (Steven got it for me as a gift)
Flatforms - Urban Outfitters

I wouldn't say it's the best outfit I can come up with but I've been wanting to wear my new flatforms. Lately Socal has been scorching hot and pants are out of the question.

I've had nothing to do the past week but stay home and get fat watching Lost. We hooked up a portable ac into my room so it's the only cool room in the house. Unless I'm out doing errands, I pretty much have to lock myself in. I miss winter already!

Happy tuesday! Stay out of the heat!

WHAT'S IN THE BOX?

The other day I went to my grandma's house. As I was leaving she handed me a box and said it was full of McDonald's toys to donate to charity if I didn't want it. I finally opened it today and not only were there toys from the 90s, there were some of my toys as a child. It was so delightful picking up each one and remembering playing with them. I had plastic dinosaurs I would play with in the bath tub. There were a few Barbies that I didn't really play with. I also found a ton of Pokemon figurines. I used to collect a bunch of random things. One of them was a bottle full of popsicle jokes. There's only so much you can do as an only child. :p

Have a superb Sunday!

FAV #2

I'm lacking photo editing software at the moment so I suppose I'll do it the easy way.
If you like the original way or this version better, please do tell.

I love the color of this adorable deer planter.
(I actually loved it so much I went back and ended up buying it. oops..)
Being a collector of mushroom themed things, this would make a great addition. ;)
This skirt
Invisible vase concept.
Doggies and babies!
Because it's always nice to have a pal.

Thanks for looking! (:
